Player development
Record assessments, athletic and fitness data, goals and tasks — then watch trends build.
Player development is the heart of RinkTracker. For each player you build a picture over time from skill assessments, athletic measurements, fitness tests, development goals and tasks, and coach notes. Trends and squad percentiles are computed automatically as you go.
Skill assessments
You assess each player across eight skills using an observable five-level ladder. Whole levels and half-steps let you show progress without pretending there is a meaningful difference between arbitrary scores such as 72 and 75:

- Shooting
- Skating
- Puck control
- Positioning
- Game IQ
- Fitness
- Coachability
Record assessments regularly — repeated scores over time are what power the trend and percentile analysis, and the progression reports.
Athletic measurements
Alongside skills you can record athletic measurements: height, weight and wingspan. Body-fat can also be recorded but is coach-only — it is never shown to parents in the portal.
Fitness tests
Capture fitness test results for each player so you can track conditioning over a season and across seasons.
Goals and tasks
Set skill-linked development goals for a player so progress can be measured against the relevant rubric level. Break work down into development tasks to give the player a clear, actionable plan. The player or guardian submits what they completed, with proof where useful; the coach then accepts it as evidence or sends it back with a next step. As assessments come in, the platform tracks goal velocity — how quickly a player is moving towards each goal.
Trends and squad percentiles
As you add data, RinkTracker computes trends for each player and squad percentiles that show where a player sits relative to their peers. This happens automatically — there is nothing extra to calculate by hand.
Coach notes
Keep blog-style notes per player to record observations, context and next steps. Each note has a share with parent toggle. Notes stay private to coaches unless you switch that toggle on — only shared notes reach the parent portal.
