Terms of service

Last updated: 12 June 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Wayne Austin, trading as “RinkTracker ” (“we”, “us”, “our”), and govern your use of the RinkTracker website and app (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. [TO CONFIRM: legal entity] — the full trading status and registered details of the provider are to be confirmed and inserted before launch.

The service

RinkTracker helps families organise figure-skating life — sessions, costs, venues, coaches, tournaments, schedules and related information — in one place, including offline at the rink. We may add, change or remove features as the service develops.

Your account

You can sign in with Google or with an email address and password. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Please give us accurate information and keep it up to date, and tell us promptly at hello@rinktracker.app if you think someone has accessed your account without permission. You must be old enough to enter into a contract to hold an account.

Acceptable use

Please use the service responsibly. You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the service or its infrastructure; attempt to access another family’s data or any data you are not authorised to see; probe, scan or test the security of the service; upload anything unlawful, harmful or infringing; or use the service to break the law. We may suspend or limit access where this is necessary to protect the service or other users.

Your content

The content you add — your sessions, costs, venues, coaches, skater profiles, schedules and notes — remains yours. You grant us only the limited licence we need to host, store, back up, process and display that content in order to operate the service for you and the members of your family. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not use it for advertising.

You are responsible for the content you add, and you confirm you have the right to add it — including any details about other people (such as coaches) or about children. Where you add information about a child, you confirm you are that child’s parent or guardian, or otherwise have the right to provide it. How we handle this data is described in our privacy policy.

Beta status and availability

RinkTracker is currently in beta. We work hard on reliability and use reasonable endeavours to keep the service available, but we do not offer a guaranteed service level (no SLA) during this period. The service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control, and features may change as we improve it. Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

Pricing and future billing

The free tier is, and is intended to remain, free. We plan to introduce paid features (“Plus”), expected at £3.99 per month or £39 per year. The following will apply if and when paid plans launch:

  • We will set out the price and what is included clearly before you subscribe, and nothing is charged without your explicit sign-up.
  • We will give you reasonable advance notice before introducing any charge that would affect you, and before changing the price of a plan you are on.
  • You can cancel a subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period and your data remains yours.
  • Your statutory cancellation and refund rights under UK consumer law (including any applicable 14-day cancellation right for distance contracts) apply and are not affected by these terms.

Detailed billing terms, including the payment provider, will be added here before paid plans go live. [TO CONFIRM: payment provider and billing terms].

Data protection

How we collect, use and protect personal data — including children’s data entered by guardians, the processors we use, and your rights under UK GDPR — is explained in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service and close your account at any time by emailing hello@rinktracker.app. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, if it is necessary to protect the service or other users, or if we are required to by law. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put things right. If you think we have got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing us, and we will review it. You can request a copy of your data before or after your account is closed, as described in our privacy policy.

Our responsibility to you

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill, as required by UK consumer law. We do not exclude or limit our liability in any way that the law does not allow. In particular, we do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales.

Subject to the above, RinkTracker is a tool to help you organise information; it is not a substitute for keeping your own records, and we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, that were caused by your own breach of these terms, or that arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything in these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, give you reasonable notice in the app or by email. If you continue to use the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms; if you do not agree, you can close your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules that apply where you live.

Draft notice. These terms of service are a draft prepared by the RinkTracker team to reflect how the application actually works, written with UK consumer law in mind. They are not legal advice and have not been reviewed by a solicitor. They must be reviewed and approved by a qualified solicitor, and the items marked “[TO CONFIRM]” resolved, before they are relied upon at launch.
